Visitor Restrictions

Thursday, March 26, 2020 – Due to the growing concern of COVID-19, effective immediately Memorial Hospital in Carthage, Illinois visitor restrictions have been updated.

Visitor restrictions for inpatient, outpatient services/testing, surgical and obstetrics include:

  • All visitors must check in at registration and must be screened

  • Only one (1) designated visitor per patient

  • No visitor under 18 years of age

  • Visitor must be free of illness such as (fever, sore throat, cough, diarrhea, vomiting, or runny nose)

  • Limit movement within the hospital and avoid common areas

These visitor restrictions are temporary and subject to change as necessary. All caregivers are required to wash hands with soap and water or use alcohol-based hand foam/gel upon entering and exiting patient rooms.

While we are committed to providing a family-centered care environment, right now restricting visitors is in the best interest of our patients, employees, and community.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

We continue to stress that residents limit potential spread of the COVID-19 disease with these precautions:

  • Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use a hand sanitizer with alcohol if soap and water are not available.
  • Cover your sneeze and cough.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Stay home if you are sick.
  • If you have symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough, shortness of breath), call your healthcare provider, Convenient Care Clinic or the Emergency Department BEFORE you visit.
  • Social distancing – maintain a distance of three feet from other people; avoid shaking hands and hugging.
  • Avoid close contact with sick people.
  • Avoid travel if your destination is in an area with widespread outbreak.
  • People who have a runny nose, cough, fever and other symptoms of a respiratory illness should never visit hospital patients.
