What to Expect at Your Visit?

Your first visit includes a consultative interview with your physical therapist to discuss your symptoms and goals. Please wear something that is comfortable to move in as our therapist will then externally evaluate the alignment and movement of your spine and pelvis. If you are comfortable with an internal pelvic assessment, our physical therapist may assess for pelvic organ prolapse and the integrity of your pelvic floor muscles. This is typically more comfortable than a typical vaginal exam as there is no speculum or stirrups used. After the evaluation, together with your therapist, you will devise a treatment plan in order to meet your personal goals.

Treatment

Clients are often relieved to know that many pelvic floor symptoms can be managed without surgery or medication. Your pelvic floor therapist will develop a personalized program to help you achieve your goals. This is accomplished by proper training of the pelvic floor muscles and surrounding muscles. Clients may need just 2 - 3 PT sessions and others may need 6 - 10 PT sessions before transitioning to a home program.
