UnityPoint Health - Memorial Hospital

Memorial Hospital has recently purchased a new 3D Hologic Mammogram System. With the new 3D Mammogram system, providers will be able to catch cancer in its earliest stages. Unlike 2D Mammography, 3D will provide enhanced and more finely detailed images, which can increase the chances of finding invasive cancers. It is also proven to reduce false positives up to 40%, reducing the number of unnecessary patient return visits. Without these false positive return visits, providers will be able to reduce unnecessary stress on patients.

“It is our responsibility as healthcare providers to keep the community healthy and reduce these late breast cancer diagnoses through prevention, detection, treatment, and providing the most advanced technology. The 3D Hologic Mammogram will provide us the necessary tool to provide better clarity and the more finely detailed imaging we need to increase the chances of finding invasive cancers,” said Ada Bair, CEO of Memorial Hospital.

“The new equipment can actually do both 3D and 2D mammography,” says Judy Reed, Memorial Hospital Imaging Director. “If an individual prefers to have 2D it will be an option. Everyone deserves 3D,” adds Reed.

Memorial Hospital is dedicated to improving health by providing education and wellness programs and innovative services at all the stages of life.
