Memorial Medical Clinic Colchester, through its Youth Wellness Initiative, is partnering with the YMCA of McDonough County to offer “Kids Run the Nation,” a free after-school wellness program designed to encourage healthy habits, physical activity, and positive education for students K-6 enrolled at West Prairie South Elementary School.

The program will be held on Friday afternoons from 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM on February 6, February 20, February 27, March 6, and March 27 at West Prairie South Elementary School. Students may attend some or all sessions.

“Kids Run the Nation” is open to students in kindergarten through sixth grade enrolled at West Prairie South at no cost. Each session will include structured physical activity along with snacks, games, and age-appropriate education focused on building lifelong healthy habits.

“This program is about encouraging kids to make healthy lifestyle choices when they can. Exercise can be fun! Making and eating healthy foods can be fun too, and that’s what we want to show these kids,” said Katie Ruebush from Memorial Medical Clinic Colchester. “By working together with the YMCA, we’re able to create a fun, welcoming environment that supports the overall well-being of our community’s children.”

Registration is required and can be completed online at MHTLC.ORG. Families are encouraged to sign up early. For more information or questions, contact Katie Ruebush, PT, DPT, at 217-221-9888.
