May 11, 2026 Memorial Hospital

Memorial Hospital’s Health & Wellness Center invites local families to enroll their children in a fun and educational summer experience through the “Basic Kitchen Skills” class in the teaching kitchen, designed for children entering grades 4-6.

This interactive class will take place on June 17, 2026, from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM in the Memorial Hospital Teaching Kitchen located at the Health & Wellness Center, 1454. N. County Road 2050, Carthage, IL., and will provide participants with the opportunity to learn essential kitchen skills in a safe and engaging environment.

Led by Registered Dietitians Julie Harrell and Jennifer Soucie, alongside Chef Amber Clark, the class combines expert guidance with hands-on learning. Participants will gain confidence in the kitchen while developing foundational cooking techniques that promote lifelong healthy habits.

“This class is a wonderful way for kids to explore cooking while learning important skills they can use every day,” said Harrell. “We’re excited to create a positive, encouraging space where students can learn, grow, and have fun together.”

The class is for kids entering 4th and 6th grade. Kids should be dropped off at 8:45 AM (no earlier). Enrollment is limited to 10 students. The cost is $30 per child and includes a meal for each child.

Registration will close on June 15, 2026. Early registration is encouraged at https://pci.jotform.com/form/261116658087159 or by calling the Health & Wellness Center at 217-357-6540.
