Memorial Hospital has been recognized among the nation’s best hospitals for providing a quiet healing environment, earning a 5-star patient experience rating for quietness from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The recognition was recently highlighted by Becker’s Hospital Review, which identified hospitals nationwide that achieved the highest possible rating for patient-reported quietness during overnight hospital stays.
The five-star rating is based on responses from the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey, a national, standardized survey that measures patients’ perspectives of their hospital experience. The survey data reflects patient responses collected between July 2024 and June 2025 and was last updated by CMS on May 13, 2026. According to CMS data, Memorial Hospital was one of only 7 hospitals in Illinois and 258 nationwide to receive the highest possible 5-star rating for quietness at night.

The HCAHPS survey is a nationwide survey that allows patients to rate their experience on measures that matter most to them, including communication with caregivers, responsiveness, cleanliness, and quietness. These responses not only help shape national quality ratings such as the 5-star designation but also guide Memorial Hospital in continually enhancing care, communication, and patient satisfaction.
