MEMORIAL HOSPITAL CELEBRATES MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH AND ENCOURAGES EVERYONE TO TURN AWARENESS INTO ACTION
May 5, 2025 Memorial Hospital

Memorial Hospital is proud to recognize Mental Health Awareness Month this May by embracing the theme “Turn Awareness into Action.” Memorial Hospital is dedicated to supporting patients and local communities in navigating mental health challenges.

“Mental health awareness is just the beginning,” said Brock Stout, LPC, Behavioral Health Coordinator. “Turning awareness into action means recognizing the signs of mental health challenges, supporting our neighbors, and ensuring that people of all ages feel valued and connected. Together, we can build stronger, more supportive environments for everyone.”

Stout said mental health is a personal journey, but it’s also a movement—you don’t need to be an expert to make a difference. Whether sharing resources, supporting a friend, advocating for better policies, or simply starting conversations, every action counts.

“There are small actions that everyone can do to support the mental health needs in our community. Sharing personal experiences can break down stigma and inspire others to seek help. Stories of resilience and recovery create a powerful ripple effect,” said Valerie Brown, RN, Program Director of Evergreen Center. Memorial Hospital’s healthcare professionals encourage the community to take action toward protecting mental health and overall well-being. Individuals who are struggling or unsure where to start should connect with their healthcare provider today.
