Job Summary:
This position provides a framework for planning, directing, coordinating, providing, and improving cardiopulmonary services. The director is responsive to community needs that improve patient health outcome. The person in this position will serve as the director and as a therapist working in patient care areas that include patients of all ages (newborn through geriatric).
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Operations
- Directs and delegates, as appropriate, the mechanisms to ensure departmental Service Lines functions in the delivery of quality patient care and diagnostics: personnel, productivity, inventory, and budgets.
- Submits budgetary information as requested
- Collaborates Service Line operations with other Hospital Departments as needed.
- Development
- Researches, assesses, develops, and introduces quality and service improvements in practice, procedures, equipment, processes regarding Respiratory Care, Cardiology, Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehab, and Sleep Medicine.
- Interfaces with Medical Directors and physician committees to promote the ongoing development of services and improvements in patient care.
- Identifies marketing opportunities and directly or indirectly promotes services.
- Management
- Ensures the orientation, development, competency, and evaluation of department employees through the department supervisors.
- Is knowledgeable and ensures department and staff compliance with hospital policies, practices and standards.
- Assures Departmental compliance and knowledge of Corporate Compliance, Safety/Environment of Care, and Risk Management requirements
- Is knowledgeable and ensures department and staff compliance in accordance with regulatory agencies.
- Assures all employee performance evaluations are completed in a timely and accurate manner. Maintain an ongoing process to ensure employee compliance with hospital human relations, customer service standards.
- Participates and reports to assigned committees to help with process improvements.
- Objectives
- Formulates, develops and executes, evaluate department objectives with input and assistance from department technologist.
- Performance Improvement
- Correlates application of current hospital PI activities related to departmental Service Lines.
- Involved in committees to develop and promote PI activities. Serves in leadership role on selected committees, as needed/assigned.
Coverage Expectations:
- Work rotating weekends and holidays if needed
- Take call if needed
Required Qualifications:
- High School Graduate.
- Graduate of an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy.
- Certification or registry by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- Current Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner License.
- Healthcare BLS, ACLS, PALS and NRP required
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years of supervisory experience
- Experience in a Critical Access Hospital
- Experience with the EPIC EMR platform
