Girl Scout Troop 5665 recently visited the Health & Wellness Center at Memorial Hospital for a hands-on teaching kitchen class, helping them earn their “Eating for Beauty” badge. The class was led by registered dietitians Ashlyn Housewright and Julie Shoemaker and focused on the connection between nutrition and overall health, including its impact on energy levels, skin, stress, mental well-being, and sleep.
The troop learned essential cooking skills such as measuring ingredients and kitchen safety while preparing a nutritious menu that included fajitas, guacamole, Greek yogurt fruit dip, and peanut butter balls. The interactive session provided the Scouts with valuable knowledge on making nutritious food choices and building confidence in the kitchen.
Memorial Hospital’s Health & Wellness Center is proud to support youth education through programs that encourage lifelong habits to support their health. Visit this page to learn more about the services offered and explore their digital catalog.
